Objectives

The Parāśara Jyotiṣa Course (PJC) is to be taught in the tradition of Puri, India and includes spiritual instructions to develop the mind in order to grasp the entire subject. The student is to develop a keen understanding of Vedic astrology and will master all the śloka of Bṛhat Parāśara Horā Śāstra (BPHS).
The syllabus primarily includes the jyotiṣa classic Bṛhat Parāśara Horā Śāstra as available today. The various chapters are grouped into 28 topics to be covered in four years for the certification as Jyotiṣa Paṇḍita.

Description

  1. The course for each academic year will start on Navaratri (Durga Puja) every year and registration for the course will start in June 2023.
The first webinar is on 20 July, 2023
  2. The course is based on the recordings of live classes given by Pandit Sanjay Rath over a period of 4 years which shall be explained by mentors and the Jyotisa Guru
  3. The annual fee entitles the student to access to the website where these recordings can be accessed. Such access will be available for two years after enrollment and can be renewed after that time for a small fee.
  4. The Mentor for the PJC-UK 2023-28 batch of students will be Christopher Jacobs assisted by Gandharva Verma and Anuja Katyal. Christopher Jacobs will hold a tutorial/webinar once a month while the Upādhyāya will ensure that you have weekly webinars every Sunday to cover the bṛhat (huge) course.

There will also be a 10-day (at least) contact class. Attendance at the tutorials and the contact class is optional but we have noticed that those who attend the contact classes learn the best.

Devaguru Bṛhaspati Center has opened admissions for fresh batch of students to start its prestigious Parāśara Jyotiṣa Course from the Fall of 2023. Unlike other colleges where the application is generic, DBC requires that the student should be accepted by a mentor for learning vedāñga jyotiṣa. A mentor is a jyotiṣa guru who will guide you through the course. Students can enroll by simply paying the fees to the mentor and they will be given access to the recordings.
